How to tune your Violin/ Viola or Cello

The first thing you need is to download a tuner, I recommend the BEST TUNER app.

You can tune your violin by using the PEGS , each string has it’s own PEG. ( USE THE PEGS WHEN THE STRINGS ARE VERY OUT OF TUNE to avoid breaking them).

How to use the tuner

The digital tuner:

Violin :G3, D4, A4, E3

Viola: C3,G3,D4,A4

Cello: C2,G2,D3,A3

How the digital tuner works:

Ex: let’s pretend you are tuning your A string , you should see the green triangle on the green line saying A 4 and as you can see your tuner is showing A#4, so in this case you need to loosen the pegs/tuners anticlockwise. A# to A it is just a half step so do NOT loosen too much.

Example 2

Let’s pretend ,you still trying to tune the A string and you see a G sign, what you need to do? Think about the staircase, G3 IS 1 whole STEP to A4, SO YOU NEED TO TIGHTEN CLOCKWISE  your peg/tuner.
